Greetings

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the 16th IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications Conference, which will be held in Berlin , on September 11-13, 2005. It is a great honour for us that this symposium is being held this time in Germany.

As in the previous series of very successful PIMRC symposia, based on the accepted papers we expect a top-quality technical conference covering state-of-the-art wireless technologies, subjects for research and development and we also stimulating discussions on new potential research areas.

The technical program will be complemented with keynote speeches and panel sessions, where executives from industry, network operators, and service providers will address the hottest topics in this field and the major challenges for the future. In addition, the program will feature a set of tutorials, where engineers and students can learn about more mature technologies.

PIMRC2005 besides many radio oriented contributions has attracted papers on networking and protocols, too so that the broad range of all aspects related to mobile and wireless systems will be covered.

In addition a few words about Berlin, a city in transition, one that is not always easy to understand, and which is often quite difficult to describe. However, no other city in Germany reflects the historical events of the last few years to the extent Berlin does. Today, Berlin is the workshop of German unity. As the capital of Germany and the seat of the Federal German Government and Parliament, Berlin is a microcosm of German Unification. It is developing into a metropolis of science, culture, media and business. The universities and research institutes, the opera houses, theatres, museums and libraries are just as much attractions to this city as its colourful neighbourhoods and the charming landscape of woods and lakes surrounding it.

We would like to encourage your participation in PIMRC'05 and hope you will enjoy the technical discussions as well as the city.
